Daminda Rambukwella, Director General of Civil Aviation and Chief Executive Officer of the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL), at the Authority's headquarters.During the meeting, the Lanka Ballooning team briefed the Director General on the commencement of their hot air ballooning operations for the upcoming season, with Dambulla serving as the company's operational base. How to get here from different locations?

Since we do not pick up outside of the locations mentioned in the flights section, you must come to Dambulla to join the Hot Air Balloon Flight from other cities. We can make the transportation easier for you. Please contact us and let us know the route and we will back to you once we check the possibilities with our drivers. If do you prefer to arrange it yourselves, please read the following suggestions.

First of all, the easiest way to get around Sri Lanka is to hire a car. The price is reasonable for a comfortable car driven by a friendly chauffeur. E.g. taxi from Colombo to Dambulla is around 20,000 LKR.

If you want to travel by public transport, all the information you need is here

Colombo to Dambulla: Plane: Cinnomon Air Colombo (CMB) – Sigiriya (SGIU) | Train: Colombo – Habarana Train available (2 trains per day) | Bus: Public Bus available. Additionaly, you can use Jaffna Bus for a journey in A/C vehicle (170 km – 4 h).

Kandy to Dambulla: Plane: Not Available | Train: Not Available | Bus: Public Bus available ( 90 km – 2,5 h). Please contact us for private Kandy – Dambulla – Kandy transport requests.
